Women’s singles

The standout match in the first round of the women’s singles will feature British wild card Francesca Jones up against third seed and former champion Jelena Ostapenko.

Jones is still looking for her first win since Roland Garros, but comes in with more grass court matches under her belt this summer, with Ostapenko yet to play on the surface.

Top seed and former Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini has also drawn a tough first round match as she gets set to play 2025 HSBC Championships title-winner Tatjana Maria.

British wild cards Hannah Klugman and Harriet Dart have been handed favourable draws. Klugman play Czechia’s Tereza Valentova in the first round with the winner moving on to face either eighth seed Elisabetta Cocciaretto or a qualifier.

Dart has a qualifier in round one before either fifth seed Laura Siegemund or Sara Bejlek.

Alicia Dudeney makes her debut at her home tournament against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, but could play either two-time champion and second seed Madison Keys or Talia Gibson in the second round.

Reigning champion Maya Joint opens against Nottingham semi-finalist Viktorija Golubic before a potential clash with sixth seed Janice Tjen.

2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova plays a qualifier and former Eastbourne winner Daria Kasatkina has drawn seventh seed, McCartney Kessler.

Men’s singles

In the men’s draw, Jack Draper is set to make his comeback against American fifth seed Brandon Nakashima.

Draper has been out of competitive action since sustaining a knee injury at the Barcelona Open this year. Meanwhile, Nakashima has been in fine form on the grass – making the semi-finals at this week’s HSBC Championships.

Draper and Nakashima met at The Queen’s Club last year, with Draper coming through in three sets.

The winner of that match would play either British wild card Jack Pinnington Jones or Argentina’s Camilo Ugo Carabelli.

Elsewhere for the Brits, Jacob Fearnley will face Thiago Agustin Tirante, before a potential clash with third seed, 2023 champion, and this week’s Queen’s semi-finalist, Francisco Cerundolo.

Arthur Fery will play his first match since his quarter-final run at the HSBC Championships against Roman Burruchaga of Argentina. The winner would then take on either eighth seed Juan Manuel Cerundolo or Raphael Collignon.

Elsewhere, sixth seed Ugo Humbert plays Mattia Bellucci, seventh seed Jaume Munar is up against Zizou Bergs, and last year’s runner-up Jenson Brooksby has drawn a qualifier.
