• 2 minute read

The draws have been announced for the WTA event at the HSBC Championships as the world’s best players return to The Queen’s Club to battle it out for the women’s crown.

Here’s a rundown of who the British players will face at the HSBC Championships and their paths through the draw.

HSBC Championships 2026: First round draw

  • Emma Raducanu (GBR) vs Qualifier
  • Katie Boulter (GBR) vs Leylah Fernandez (CAN) (seeded 8)
  • Mika Stojsavljevic (GBR) vs Marta Kostyuk (UKR) (seeded 5)
  • Francesca Jones (GBR) vs Laura Siegemund (GER)
  • Harriet Dart (GBR) vs Liudmila Samsonova

Raducanu draws a qualifier while Boulter and Stojsavljevic face tough openers

Emma Raducanu will hope to better her 2025 run quarter-final run at The Queen’s Club as she is set to play a qualifier in her opening match.

The British No.1 could face a tough side of the draw with a potential path to the final that could see her face Roland Garros quarter-finalist Sorana Cirstea and last year's Wimbledon and HSBC Championships runner-up Amanda Anisimova.

Katie Boulter will open her grass court season with a first-round clash against 2025 Lexus Eastbourne Open finalist and eighth seed Leylah Fernandez.

The Brit could then face last year’s semi-finalist Qinwen Zheng in the second round, with a potential clash with two-time Grand Slam champion Elena Rybakina awaiting her later in the draw.

Fresh off her first WTA 125 win and a quarter-final run at the Lexus Birmingham Open, Mika Stojsavljevic will make her WTA 500 main draw debut at the HSBC Championships.

The 17-year-old will face a tough opening match against fifth seed Marta Kostyuk, who will arrive in red-hot form off the back of a semi-final appearance at Roland Garros.

Francesca Jones kicks off her grass court season at The Queen’s Club in fine form too, having recorded her first Grand Slam main draw win during her second round run at Roland Garros. The Brit faces a tricky first-round match against Laura Siegemund, who made the quarter-finals at Wimbledon last year.

A challenge awaits Harriet Dart if she comes through her first-round tie against five-time WTA title winner Liudmila Samsonova. The wild card could be set to face former Olympic champion Belinda Bencic in the second round.

Top four seeds former Wimbledon champion Rybakina, 2025 runner-up Anisimova, rising star Victoria Mboko and Olympic gold medallist Bencic all have byes into the second round.

Other notable first-round matchups include former world No.1 Karolina Pliskova versus 2025 Lexus Nottingham Open champion McCartney Kessler, and 2026 semi-finalists Zheng against Strasbourg semi-finalist Jaqueline Cristian.

Maria Sakkari, Marie Bouzkova, Sorana Cîrstea, Iva Jovic, and Alexandra Eala will also face qualifiers in round one.

The HSBC Championships get underway on Monday 8 June. You can watch all the action exclusively across the BBC and Tennis Channel.
