HSBC Championships 2026: Cam Norrie draws fourth seed & all-British clash in first round

Britain’s Cam Norrie has been dealt the toughest draw in the opening round, up against fourth seed and world No.22 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

2021 runner-up Norrie will face the former quarter-finalist before a potential second round clash with Corentin Moutet or a qualifier. He’s in the same quarter of the draw as 2024 champion Tommy Paul.

There will be an all-British matchup in the opening round with wild cards Arthur Fery and Toby Samuel set to go head-to-head.

Fery recently made the semi-finals at the Lexus Birmingham Open and Samuel has been one of the highest risers in British tennis this year after winning two ATP Challenger titles.

The winner will play either third seed and Roland Garros semi-finalist Jakub Mensik or France’s Adrian Mannarino in round two.

Wild card Jack Pinnington Jones opens against 2021 Wimbledon semi-finalist Denis Shapovalov, and could go on to face top seed Alex de Minaur in the second round.

World No.6 De Minaur has been drawn against big-serving Canadian Gabriel Diallo in round one. The Australian is looking to go one better than his 2023 final run and add to his grass court titles in Nottingham and Eastbourne.

Elsewhere in the draw, second seed and last year’s runner-up Jiri Lehecka plays Kamil Majchrzak of Poland, Francisco Cerundolo takes on rising star Alexander Blockx, and Rafael Jodar has been drawn against Ignacio Ruse.
