US Open 2026: Henry Patten & Lloyd Glasspool lose out in mixed doubles

British stars Henry Patten and Lloyd Glasspool bowed out in the main draw of the 2026 US Open mixed doubles on Tuesday.
Both British stars had to come through qualifying with their respective partners, Katerina Siniakova and Erin Routliffe, before facing difficult draws in the opening rounds.
Patten and Siniakova – who are the current ATP and WTA Doubles world No.1s – reached the quarter-finals after stunning top seeds Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic 1-4, 4-2, 10-2.
After pulling off their stunning comeback on the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Patten said: “I don’t know really (how they managed to win) it wasn’t looking very good for a while. In this format, we played one bad game, and all of a sudden the set was gone.
"We knew the same could happen in the second, and we played an amazing tie-break. Kat acing Novak on match point was great."
However, in the quarter-finals they eventually bowed out to the husband and wife team of Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina in a tight three-set clash.
Despite having three set points in the opening set, Patten and Siniakova lost 5-4(6), 4-5(3), 10-8 in an hour and 38 minutes.
Meanwhile, Glasspool and Routliffe were defeated by the star-studded team of Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz 5-3, 4-1 in the first round of the US Open mixed doubles.
This was Williams’ first match back at the US Open since 2022 and Alcaraz’s first competitive action since the Barcelona Open earlier this year after suffering from a long-term wrist injury.
They went on to lose in the quarter-finals against Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli 5-4(4), 4-1.
"It's always amazing to be here. I never expected to be back on this court," said 23-time Grand Slam singles champion Williams.
"It was just a really cool moment. I never thought this would happen."
