Australian Open 2026: Jack Draper & Emma Raducanu spearhead six Brits on main draw entry list

• 2 MINUTE READ

The main draw entry lists have been announced for the 2026 Australian Open – including six British singles players.

The Australian Open is set to take place from 12 January to 1 February at the world famous Melbourne Park.

This year’s entry list included 99 of the world’s top-100 men and 98 of the top-100 women in a star-studded line-up at the first Grand Slam of the season.

Six British players have direct entry into the main draw this season – including both British No.1s Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu, alongside Sonay Kartal, Francesca Jones, Cam Norrie and Jacob Fearnley.

Draper and Raducanu will set their sights on Melbourne after competing together for Great Britain at the United Cup at the start of the season.

Reigning Indian Wells champion and world No.10 Draper returns to Australia after a career-best fourth round run last year, winning three matches in five sets before retiring against Carlos Alcaraz. It proved a springboard for Draper’s season as he went on to reach as high as No.4 in the world.

Raducanu is coming off one of the best seasons in her young career – reaching the semi-final of the Citi Open, quarter-finals in Miami and at the HSBC Championships, and rising to No.29 in the world. Last year she reached a career-best third round at the Australian Open, but was dealt a tough draw against Iga Swiatek.

Kartal was one of the stories of the 2025 season. The 24-year-old made the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time at Wimbledon, reached her first WTA 1000 quarter-final in Beijing and won her first matches for Great Britain at the Billie Jean King Cup. Kartal made her debut at the Australian Open last year but lost out in the first round.

Jones picked up her first two WTA 125 singles titles last year and broke into the top 100 for the first time. This will be her second appearance in the main draw in Melbourne after coming through qualifying in 2021.

Norrie had a very strong second half of the season this year. After reaching the Wimbledon quarter-final, Norrie also made the third round at the US Open and reached the Moselle Open final. Norrie’s best result at the Australian Open came in 2024 when he reached the fourth round.

Finally, Fearnley is set to feature at the Australian Open for only the second time in his career after an impressive debut this season. Fearnley defeated former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in the first round before going on to reach the round of 32.

More British players will be set for the qualifying draws this year with more information still to be announced. Australian Open qualifying will start from 12-15 January.
