Reid does the double in France, McKay & Fryer win on pro tour, and latest from TS Open Tour

• 3 minute read

Gordon Reid won the men’s singles and doubles titles at the same WC500 tournament for the second time this season at the Open du Loiret in France.

Second seed Reid earned three comfortable straight-sets wins on his way to the singles final against top seed and world number four Gustavo Fernandez, including beating Stefan Olsson of Sweden 6-1, 6-3 in the latest rematch of their 2016 Wimbledon final and stretching his unbeaten record against world number seven Tom Egberink of the Netherlands to 24 matches with a 6-1, 6-1 semi-final victory.

The Scot then completed his run to the title by beating Fernandez 6-0, 3-6, 7-5.

Reid and Fernandez also combined to beat fellow Brit Ben Bartram and Brazilian Daniel Rodrigues in the doubles final 5-7, 7-5, 10-4.

McKay & Fryer win on pro tour

Tennis Scotland Tour regulars Kyle McKay and Cameron Fryer made an incredible transition to pro-tour tennis as they won the men’s doubles title at the World Tennis Tour M25 event in Redbridge.

McKay and Fryer conquered three seeded pairs en route to the final where they faced fourth seeds Tanapatt Nirundorn and Pablo Perez Ramos and overcame a tough second set to claim the title 6-4, 6-7, 10-6.

Titles claimed on TS Open Tour

It’s been a busy few weeks on the TS Open Tour as we edge closer to this year’s Finals, with only a few places left up for grabs.

Cameron Fryer further increased his lead at the top of the leaderboard by winning the Ayrshire Open Indoor Championships at Prestwick after beating Jonny O’Mara in the final.

Women’s leader Aadya Iyer Chadalawada also strengthened her grip on top spot with a win over Halle Pringle.

The tour then moved onto Newlands for a Lexus British Tour event, with Lara Savic pipping Kate Murray to the women’s title, and Nicolas Rosenzweig getting his hands on the men’s trophy with victory over Callum McGinn.

Attention now turns to the final event of the leaderboard season, the Scottish National Open Championships at the University of Stirling from 6-8 November.
