Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week 2020

• 1 MINUTE READ

To celebrate Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week and Active Girls Day 2020, Tennis Scotland will throw a spotlight on the inspirational females who are making a racquet about their love of tennis!

Taking place between 24-30th October, the week aims to showcase the outstanding contributions being made by females across the sporting landscape. This year, it is also more important than ever before to highlight the positive and mental benefits gained from participating in sport given the challenges the world has faced due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Recent research conducted on behalf of the Tennis Foundation discovered that 91% of people felt their self-confidence had been positively impacted by participating in tennis, which subsequently improved their mental health and wellbeing.

Fourth Year Of Celebrations

As part of the fourth year of celebrations, you will hear from just a handful of the inspirational female coaches that are playing a key role in keeping their communities physically and mentally fit. This week, five She Rallies ambassadors will issue a ‘rallying’ cry to encourage women and girls to follow in their footsteps.

Whether you consider yourself a baseline beginner or service-line specialist, keep your eyes on Tennis Scotland’s social media channels this week for a range of insightful stories and challenges.

Play your part by setting some time aside each day to complete a sport related activity. To help get you started, check out our social media channels tomorrow (Saturday, 24th October) as Judy Murray launches the ‘Tennis Scotland Challenge’.
