Initial season: January to mid-September 2027
Hours: Approximately 9–18 hours per week, by agreement, once qualified as a Level 2 Coach

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you an enthusiastic Level 1 tennis coach ready to take the next step in your coaching career?
Leeds Parks Tennis is offering an exciting opportunity to gain valuable coaching experience while working towards your LTA Level 2 Tennis Instructor qualification. With a £625 course bursary, mentoring and practical experience, we'll help you develop your skills and take the next step towards becoming a qualified tennis instructor.
You'll work across 26 free-to-book park tennis sites throughout Leeds, supporting sessions for players of different ages, abilities and backgrounds. From group coaching and community programmes to holiday camps and school activities, you'll gain experience in a variety of settings while helping more people enjoy tennis.
YOUR LEVEL 2 QUALIFICATION, SUPPORTED
We can fund £625 towards your Level 2 course fees, helping you progress without having to cover the full cost upfront.
The bursary is repaid through 45 agreed hours of programme delivery, at an average repayment amount of approximately £13.89 per hour. The final repayment will be adjusted to ensure the total matches the £625 course fee exactly.
These figures are the bursary repayment amounts, not your hourly coaching wage. The repayment arrangement will be agreed with you in advance.
You'll also benefit from mentoring and practical experience to help you build your confidence and develop as a coach. Since 2022, five coaches have achieved their next qualification with the support of Community Tennis Coordinator and Level 4 Coach Danny Burrell.
You'll need to meet the LTA's course entry and assessment requirements, and we'll help you understand the steps involved.
WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
• Funded progression towards your Level 2 qualification.
• Practical experience supporting tennis sessions across Leeds.
• Mentoring and guidance from experienced coaches.
• Your own coaching equipment to use when delivering sessions.
• Flexible working opportunities, with approximately 9–18 hours available per week by agreement.
• The chance to progress into Level 2 coaching roles, where rates currently range from £16.50 to £26.25 per hour, depending on the venue and responsibilities.
• Once qualified and appropriately authorised, potential opportunities to deliver private lessons using approved Leeds Parks courts without court-hire fees, and promote your services through a network of over 15,000 contacts and leads.
YOUR ROLE
You'll support the delivery of engaging, inclusive tennis sessions across Leeds, working under the required supervision of a qualified lead coach.
Responsibilities may include helping with group coaching, community programmes, open days, holiday camps and school sessions. You'll help create a positive environment where players can develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy being active.
