Miami Open 2026: Alfie Hewett crowned singles champion and claims 60th doubles crown with Gordon Reid

Alfie Hewett was crowned singles champion at the inaugural WT500 Miami Open, while he and Gordon Reid also reached a milestone 60th men’s wheelchair doubles title.
The men's wheelchair singles final saw another blockbuster meeting between Hewett and world No.1 Tokito Oda, with the Brit securing a 6-1, 6-4 victory to be crowned the first men's wheelchair singles champion at the Miami Open.
World No.2 Hewett dominated the singles final early, winning nine of the first 10 games to open up a commanding 6-1, 3-0 lead. He had two chances to extend that advantage to 4-0, but world No.1 Oda responded with back-to-back games.
The pair had met just a week earlier in the Cajun Classic final in Baton Rouge, where Hewett also took the first set 6-1 before Oda fought back to win in three. There were hints of a repeat when Hewett missed further chances to move 5-2 ahead, but this time the Brit held firm from 4-4 to close out the match - firing down an ace to clinch his third WT500 singles title of the season.
Just 90 minutes later, Hewett returned to Hard Rock Stadium’s Butch Buchholz Court alongside Reid, carrying a 7-0 head-to-head record against the Spanish pair. That dominance continued as they extended it to 8-0, serving out the opening set to love and winning 13 of the final 14 games.
The victory secured their second doubles title of 2026 and marked a milestone 60th title as a partnership on the International Tennis Federation’s new Premier Tier.
