LTA and BNP Paribas join forces for StreetGames fundraiser at British Tour events

• 2 MINUTE READ

The LTA and Official Partner BNP Paribas are coming together to raise funds for StreetGames at the upcoming series of British Tour events at the National Tennis Centre.

As part of their Aces from the Heart initiative, BNP Paribas have pledged to raise up to £20,000 by donating £25 for every ace served at the behind closed doors tournaments run by the national governing body, which start on Thursday 2 July.

StreetGames was announced as the LTA’s national charity partner last summer and in support of the partnership, BNP Paribas selected StreetGames as the beneficiary of last year’s Aces from the Heart campaign which ran at the Fever-Tree Championships at Queen’s and raised £40,000.

StreetGames will use the funds raised via this year’s Aces from the Heart to support the delivery of meals and access to activities as part of their ‘Fit and Fed’ holiday campaign, helping young people who have been left without crucial support, including access to nutritious meals and healthy activities in the holidays as a result of the pandemic.

We would have liked to have been supporting this initiative at Queen’s again, but it’s great that we can use the platform of the British Tour events to help raise significant funds for StreetGames.

Earlier this year, the LTA donated nearly 5,000 rackets to be distributed by StreetGames to young people from lower-socio economic groups in communities across Britain. These were delivered together with tennis balls and LTA ‘tennis at home’ activity guides to help more young people stay active during lockdown.

Stephen Farrow, LTA Director of International Events, said: “We’re very pleased to be working with BNP Paribas on the Aces from the Heart campaign at our British Tour events this year. Of course we would have liked to have been supporting this initiative at Queen’s again, but it’s great that we can use the platform of the British Tour events to help raise significant funds for StreetGames. Their work to use sport to positively impact the lives of disadvantaged young people complements our vision of opening tennis up to more people. Following on from our racket donation during lockdown, we hope the funds generated through Aces from the Heart will continue to support this fantastic work.”

Anne Marie Verstraeten, UK Country Head of BNP Paribas said “We are delighted to support StreetGames through our ‘Aces from the Heart’ programme for a second year. Their work supporting vulnerable, young people across the UK is more important now, than ever.”
