Jo Ko cracks world’s top 10

British No.1 Johanna Konta is now one of the top 10 tennis players in the world after her semi-final victory at the China Open in Beijing!

Konta is the first British woman since Jo Durie in 1984 to achieve the feat. It is also the first time in ATP and WTA rankings history that Great Britain has had both a man and a woman in the world’s top 10 at the same time, with Andy Murray World No.2 and now Jo World No.9.

Konta beat American Madison Keys 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 in her semi-final match-up in Beijing on Saturday.

Taking on World No.3 Agnieszka Radwanska in the final on Sunday, Jo missed out on the second WTA title of her career, losing 6-4, 6-2.

It's been a brilliant year for the 25-year-old, who was ranked 146 in the world as recently as last June. One of the highlights came in July when Jo beat Venus Williams to win the Stanford Classic and claim the first WTA title of her career.

By reaching the final of the China Open, Konta will also move into the top eight of the Road to Singapore – the race to reach the WTA Finals later this month.
