Hewett & Reid win Melbourne title
Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid won their first doubles title of the season at the ITF WC 1000 Melbourne Wheelchair Open.
Hewett and Reid claimed their third straight Melbourne Open doubles trophy after a dominant 6-3, 6-1 win over Spain’s Martin De La Puente and France’s Stephane Houdet.
Britain’s Hewett also made the final of the men’s singles but was denied a third title since 2022 by top seed Tokito Oda. The Japanese star won an epic final 4-6, 7-6(4), 7-5 in over three hours.
Meanwhile, Andy Lapthorne made back-to-back quad doubles finals with Heath Davidson, but finished runner-up once again, losing out 6-3, 6-0 to Guy Sasson and Niels Vink.
Stevenson continues doubles success
David Stevenson and Canadian partner Cleeve Harper were crowned men’s doubles champions at the Oeiras Challenger in Portugal.
Stevenson and Harper saved four match points in the deciding match tie-break to beat Fransico Rocha and Tiago Torres 6-3, 3-6, 12-10.
It’s Stevenson’s second Challenger title of the season already, adding to his trophy at the Lexus British Pro Series Nottingham victory at the start of the year.
Elsewhere, Jack Pinnington Jones made the men’s singles final of the Soma Bay Challenger in Egypt.
The British star reached the final with four straight sets victories, but eventually lost out to South Africa’s Lloyd Harris, retiring from the match at 6-1, 5-2 down.

Brooks and Rajecki lifted the W75 Leszno doubles title after defeating fellow Brit Mika Stojsavljevic and Vendula Valdmannova in the final 7-6(2), 7-6(6).
