Luke Johnson and Jan Zielinski capture first ATP title together at the Chengdu Open

Britain's Luke Johnson has clinched his first ATP title of the season after lifting the Chengdu Open title alongside Polish partner Jan Zielinski.
Johnson and Zielinski sealed their first title together as a partnership after beating Robert Galloway and Andre Goransson 7-6(7), 7-5.
The Brit and Pole have been competing alongside each other since January and have recorded notable runs to the semi-final of the Australian Open and Mutua Madrid Masters.
The pair arrived in Chengdu on a seven-match losing streak but managed to turn the tables after fighting through back-to-back three-set matches to reach the final four before closing out the title in style.

- Semi-final: beat Jakob Schnaitter (GER) & Mark Wallner (GER) 6-3, 6-2
- Quarter-final: beat John Peers (AUS) & Michael Venus (NZL) 2-6, 6-3, 10-7
- First round: beat Sadio Boumbia (FRA) & Fabian Reboul (FRA) 4-6, 6-4, 10-3
Johnson now adds the Chengdu title to his other three ATP titles that he claimed in Metz (2024), Barcelona and Hong Kong (2025) - all of which he won with Sander Arends.
A closely fought final saw the first set be settled by a tie-break. Johnson and Zielinski overturned a 5-2 deficit and saved two set points on their way to reeling off eight of the last nine points to edge ahead.
The second set was another closely fought encounter with neither team managing to create many opportunities on the return until the 11th game. Having raced out to a 40-0 lead on Galloway and Goransson’s serve, Johnson and Zielinski converted their first and only break point of the match to edge ahead before clinically serving out the title to love.
Johnson will not turn his attention to the Tokyo Open where he’ll join forces with Patrik Rikl.
