What can you expect from a Barclays Free Park Tennis session?

- Anyone can play – whatever your age or ability, Barclays Free Park Tennis is open to anyone looking to get started, improve their skills and enjoy free tennis
- Play tennis for free – we’ll never charge you to play, just sign up for free each week and we’ll see you on court
- Meet new people – Barclays Free Park Tennis is a group session, so you’ll get to meet and play tennis with a whole host of different people from your local area
- We’ll provide rackets and equipment – it doesn’t matter if you haven’t played before, or if you don’t own a tennis racket – we’ve got you covered
- Fun games and exercises – every session is packed with a variety of games to keep you active and progress your tennis skills
- Free workout – each session will give you a free workout, get you outdoors and help you practice your game
- Free tennis coaching – sessions are run all year round by our group of trained volunteers, who are set and ready to give you the best tennis experience on court and help you improve your skills
- Bring the family – if you’re looking for free things to do for the whole family, we’ve got you covered. Both adults and children can get involved and enjoy playing tennis together (children under eight should be accompanied by an adult).

1. What is Barclays Free Park Tennis?
Barclays Free Park Tennis offers free, social tennis sessions at your local park court every weekend. Regardless of age, experience, or ability, you can book and play in a friendly group session.
2. Who can attend a session?
Anyone is welcome to take part, whether you are a complete beginner or have played before. Children are also welcome, and sessions are family friendly. Children under eight should be accompanied by an adult.
3. How do I book a free tennis session?
You can find and book sessions using the LTA Play online booking tool by searching for a park tennis court near you. You will need a free LTA Advantage account to book.
4. Do I need my own equipment?
No. Rackets and equipment are provided at the sessions, so you can join even if you do not have your own gear.
5. Do I need to be skilled to participate?
No. Sessions are open to all skill levels. They are designed to be fun and inclusive with games and activities that help you improve while enjoying the sport.
6. When and where do sessions take place?
Sessions typically run on weekend mornings, for example every Saturday or Sunday at around 10:00am, at park courts across Britain. New locations and times may be added regularly.
7. Are the tennis sessions free all year round?
Yes. Sessions are free to join throughout the year, although availability may vary by location and season.
8. What happens if the weather is bad?
If weather conditions make playing unsafe or unsuitable, sessions may be cancelled. Check your booking or contact the organisers if you are unsure.
9. Can I volunteer to help run sessions?
Yes. You can train to become a Barclays Free Park Tennis Activator, a volunteer who helps organise and lead sessions. You do not need previous coaching experience, and training is provided.
10. Do Activators need any checks or training?
Yes. Volunteers complete an online training course and undergo the necessary background checks to ensure sessions are delivered safely.
