Wimbledon 2026: Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara are into a second men’s doubles semi-final

• 2 minute read

Top seeds Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara nailed a comeback win from a set down in the Wimbledon men’s doubles quarter-finals.

The world No.1 pairing fought through a tight match against Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard in front of an in-voice crowd on No.2 Court – eventually winning 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(6) over two hours and 11 minutes.

Now into their second Wimbledon semi-final following their title run in 2024, Patten and Heliovaara will face Thanasi Kokkinakis and Aleksandar Kovacevic.

After their win over 14th seeds Nikola Mektic and Austin Krajicek earlier today, the Australian-American partnership has now knocked out three seeded pairs, including Australian Open champions Neal Skupski and Christian Harrison.

The week has not been without its challenges for Patten and Heliovaara. The Queen’s finalists have been forced into a deciding 10-point match tie-break in each of their last three matches, but they have shown the resilience and composure needed to come through every time.

The British-Finnish duo picked up their first Grand Slam title here in SW19, and the partnership has gone from strength to strength ever since.

With a second Grand Slam trophy in Australia and four ATP titles already this season, they’ll head into the semi-final as favourites to make it into a fourth major final.

It was a slow start for Patten and Heliovaara on No.2 Court today as they quickly faced a 4-0 scoreline. The pair struggled to hold, winning just 55% (11/20) of points behind the serve, giving Andreozzi and Guinard ample opportunity to quickly take the opener.

Never ones to go down without a fight, the 2025 Australian Open champs fended off four break points in the opening game of the second before creating two break chances of their own to build some momentum and get the crowd excited.

Performing much better on serve, the 2024 champions were able to stick with their opponents throughout the set before a dominant break to love at 5-4 forced a decider and sent Heliovaara sprinting round the net in celebration.

There was very little between the two sides in the third set, but Patten and Heliovaara continued to build on their strong play. They forced a deuce at 5-4 but couldn't find a way past their opponents as a 10-point tie-break loomed.

After exchanging leads at the start, it was the Roland Garros finalists who found the edge – with a mini break in hand, they rattled off three straight points to set up two opportunities for the match. Heliovaara laid down an unreturned serve and the pair had booked their spot in another Grand Slam semi-final.
