• 1 MINUTE READ

The draw has been announced for the US Open 2024 singles competitions including a clash between former major champions, two British seeds and a match-up with a top 25 star.

In a battle between former Grand Slam champions, 2021 US Open winner Emma Raducanu will take on the 2020 Australian Open titlist Sofia Kenin in the opening round.

It will be the first meeting between the two, with the winner potentially facing National Bank Open champion and Cincinnati Open runner-up Jessica Pegula in the second round.

31st seed Katie Boulter has drawn qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich in round one and if results go in the Brits favour, could play Raducanu in the third round.

Meanwhile, Harriet Dart will take on French wild card Chloe Pacquet in her first match.

US Open first round draw:

  • Katie Boulter (GBR) (31) vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich
  • Harriet Dart (GBR) vs Chloe Pacquet (FRA)
  • Emma Raducanu (GBR) vs Sofia Kenin (USA)
  • Jack Draper (GBR) (25) vs Zhizhen Zhang (CHN)
  • Dan Evans (GBR) vs Karen Khachanov (23)
  • Jan Choinski (GBR) vs Roberto Carballes Baena (ESP)

On the men’s side, 25th seed and British No.1 Jack Draper is set to take on world No.41 Zhizhen Zhang.

Draper made the fourth round of a major for the first time at Flushing Meadows last year, but could have to play Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz in round three if he is to better his career-best run.

Dan Evans faces a tough challenge against the No.23 seed Karen Khachanov in the first round.

However, Evans has beaten the 28-year-old on all of their previous four meetings – the most recent coming in Barcelona last year where the Brit came through in straight sets.

Jan Choinski was the only Brit to come through qualifying at the US Open after saving three match points to beat USA's Maxime Cressy.

Choinski will play world No.54 Roberto Carballes Baena in his first ever main draw match i Flushing Meadows.

The US Open main draw gets underway on Monday 26 September with the women’s and men’s singles first round.
