cinch Championships awarded 2022 ATP 500 Tournament of the Year

• 2 MINUTE READ

The cinch Championships at The Queen’s Club has been awarded ATP 500 Tournament of the Year at the annual ATP Awards.

This is the fourth time that the historic event has won the award in the last seven years and the sixth time it’s clinched an award in its category over the past 10 years.

In another action-packed year at The Queen’s Club in 2022, Italy’s Matteo Berrettini successfully defended his title with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Filip Krajinovic, while Croatia’s Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic defeated British star Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara in the men’s doubles final.

Meanwhile in the wheelchair event, Britain’s Alfie Hewett lifted the men’s doubles trophy with Stephane Houdet, with the French man finishing runner-up to Joachim Gerard in the singles.

Chris Pollard LTA Digital and Events Director said, “Given the quality of tournaments in this category, it is an honour to be voted by players as the ATP500 Tournament of the Year.

“It is recognition of the outstanding work from the LTA tournament team and the support from a large number of sponsors, partners and suppliers who collaborate so effectively with the LTA, the Queen’s Club and the ATP in delivering the Tournament.

“As well as hosting our highest event attendance in 2022, the LTA introduced a number of innovative sustainability and inclusion initiatives that opened up the event to new audiences – we look forward to further enhancing the event experience for players, spectators and sponsors in 2023.”
