Alcaraz, Fritz and Tiafoe to join Berrettini for cinch Championships as tickets go on sale

Two of the world’s top five male tennis players, and one of the standout stars of 2022, will join defending champion Matteo Berrettini in this year’s cinch Championships line up.

US Open champion and current world No.2 Carlos Alcaraz, American Taylor Fritz, who entered the top five for the first time this week, and 2022 US Open semi-finalist Frances Tiafoe are all today announced for this year’s tournament at the Queen’s Club in London.

Tiafoe and Fritz have both enjoyed title-winning success on British grass courts, with Tiafoe winning the 2021 Nottingham Open while Fritz has twice lifted silverware at Eastbourne. Alcaraz reached the fourth round at Wimbledon last year before going on to win his first Grand Slam title at the US Open and become world No.1 at the age of 19.

The last time two of the top five played the event was in 2017, when No.1 Andy Murray and No.3 Stan Wawrinka featured. British representation in the draw will be confirmed at a later date, with the full entry list confirmed week commencing 22 May.

Carlos Alcaraz said, “It’s an honour to come to the LTA’s cinch Championships this year, to a venue with so much history, great champions and everyone knows the quality of the grass courts is among the best in the world.”

Taylor Fritz commented: “Really looking forward to returning to Queen’s Club for the LTA’s cinch Championships, there’s a great vibe around the event, it’s one of the player’s favourites on the Tour and my game translates well onto grass. Excited to see what this year has in store.”

Chris Pollard, LTA Digital and Events Director: “The LTA’s cinch Championships and the player line up promises to be very exciting this year.  We are delighted to welcome back exciting international talents such as Berrettini, Fritz and Tiafoe as well as seeing the recent world No.1 and US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz make his debut at the Queen’s Club.  This is testament to how much the ATP players really enjoy the event, having again been voted best tournament in its category and we look forward to another stellar week of world-class tennis for our fans in 2023.”
