World class tennis is heading to North Wales with the first-ever Lexus Wrexham Open – the biggest women’s tennis event in Great Britain outside of the grass court season. Find out everything you need to know about the 2025 Lexus Wrexham Open.
When is the Lexus Wrexham Open?
Qualifying for the W100 Shrewsbury will take place from Sunday 19 October until Monday 20 October.
Main draw action will get underway from Tuesday 21 October through to finals day on Sunday 26 October.
Where is the Lexus Wrexham Open taking place?
The Lexus Wrexham Open is a W100 ITF World Tennis Tour event held on the indoor courts at the Wrexham Tennis and Padel Centre.
The tournament has replaced the former W100 in Shrewsbury and is the biggest indoor tennis event in the country.
This will also be the largest tennis event held in Wales for 29 years after the Rover Championships in 1996.
Which players are competing at the Lexus Wrexham Open?
This year’s entry list is headlined by former top 100 and Lexus GB Billie Jean King Cup star Jodie Burrage. The 26-year-old has enjoyed strong success on home soil over the years – reaching her first WTA final in Nottingham back in 2023 and reaching the Ilkley final in 2022.
Former Shrewsbury W100 runner-up and British star Amarni Banks will be one to watch. Banks made the quarter-finals of the WTA 125 Lexus Ilkley Open this season and captured her second singles title at the W35 Nottingham.
Lily Miyazki heads to Wrexham off the back of the biggest doubles title of her career in Bratislava, while eyes will also be on British rising star Mimi Xu, who made her Grand Slam main draw debut at Wimbledon this summer at the age of 17.
France’s Jessika Ponchet is the second-highest ranked player in Wrexham. So far this year, Ponchet has reached the semi-finals of the Lexus Birmingham Open and quarter-finals at the WTA 250 events in Rouen and Prague.
17-year-old Tyra Caterina Grant was recently part of the Italian Billie Jean King Cup squad that took home the title in Shenzhen.
Harmony Tan and Camilla Rosatello know how to play in the big moments at these kinds of events, having previously claimed wins over Serena Williams and Aryna Sabalenka respectively.
