As part of our goal of Tennis Opened Up and to make tennis as inclusive a sport as possible, we want to reiterate our ongoing support during Pride Month for LGBTQ+ communities across the country, and highlight that our events, along with the sport as a whole, are safe, inclusive and open spaces where people can be their authentic selves.
That’s why every Friday of our major events in 2024 will once again host ‘Friday Pride Days’. These events place a special focus on Pride and act as a platform to raise visibility and awareness of LGBTQ+ inclusion in tennis.
We’d love it if as many people as possible attending the Lexus Ilkley Trophy brought as much colour as they can to the Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club. Whether it’s simply wearing rainbow laces or a wristband, or wearing your brightest, most colourful t-shirt or pair of trousers, it would be fantastic if you could show your colours in support of Pride.
Unfortunately there is no left luggage facility on site. Spectators may not bring a bag larger than 16” x 12” x 12” (40cm x 30cm x 30cm) into the grounds. For spectator safety all bags are subject to inspection by our security team and are brought to the Tournament at the owner’s risk.
Please refer to the conditions of entry for guidance on what is prohibited on site.
Lost Property will be kept in the Entrance Marquee.
Programmes and a selection of other merchandise will be available to buy for £3 from the merchandise stand.
If you wish to leave and re-enter the grounds you will need to collect a wristband from a Security team member on exiting the grounds. Please be aware you will be handed a wristband only when leaving the venue and not before.
In order to be re-admitted you will need to show both the wristband and a valid ticket. You will be subject to a bag search when re-entering the venue.
The full tournament schedule and draw will be revealed in our score centre before the start of each day.
Play will start each day at 11am. We can't guarantee when play will finish as this will depend on the length of matches.
Our volunteers are spread all over the tournament grounds and are dressed in burgundy tops. They are here to help you enjoy your visit, so don’t be surprised if they pop up to say hello if you look lost.
We hope you have a fantastic day at the Ilkley Trophy, but if you do see something which doesn't look right, please tell the closest Volunteer or Security Steward, who will be more than happy to help.
As part of our vision of ‘Tennis Opened Up’, we want everyone to feel included at our major events. That is why we’ve decided to introduce sensory bags at all LTA tournaments this 2024 grass court season.
Available for collection from our tournament information point, each sensory bag contains ear defenders, ear plugs, sunglasses and fidget toys, as pictured. Spectators who would like to use a sensory bag will be required to sign it out from the information point, and then sign it back in upon return.
Information point staff will be on hand to assist with this collection process.
You can view the 2024 Site Map for the Lexus Ilkley Trophy below:
Smoking, which includes e-cigarettes, is strictly prohibited within the stands of any court and in all areas covered by legislation.
Those wishing to smoke within the venue must do so only in the designated smoking area provided within the Grounds.
Watch out, watch out… Sunburn’s about!
Nobody wants sunburn; however, it can catch you out, especially when your focused on sporting activities. To help protect fans and raise awareness of the dangers of sunburn while watching our grass court summer events, the LTA is a supporter of the ‘Sunguarding Sport’ campaign run by the Melanoma fund.
Although annoying, unsightly, and painful, the danger of sunburn goes far beyond the redness and discomfort. It accelerates skin ageing and is a leading cause of skin cancer. The best way to avoid it is to be mindful, that during summer, sunburn is lurking, but is easily dealt with by using sun protection.
Sunburn is a visible reaction of the skin's exposure to the sun’s UV rays. The signs of a sunburn may not appear for a few hours and are typically at worse, 24 to 36 hours after sun exposure. The redness and soreness are a sign your body is repairing the damaged skin. How long symptoms last depends on its severity of the sunburn.
- Mild: Redness and some pain. This last three to five days.
- Moderate: Red, swollen skin, and hot to the touch. This can take about a week to heal completely.
- Severe: Painful blistering or very red skin. This can take up to two weeks to fully recover.
Three is the magic number
UV rays cannot be seen or felt, and so we can all be caught out, especially on overcast days. To be sure, use sun protection when the UV Index is 3 or over. You can check this on your phone and act accordingly.
Remember, sunburn ain ’t no laughing matter! Even a single incidence can increase your risk for developing skin cancer, especially in younger people, so do the right thing, protect skin with clothing and SPF30+ sunscreen on all exposed skin, before you start any outdoor activity or if you are out in the sun watching tennis, and reapply frequently.
