HSBC Championships 2026: Olivia Nicholls & Tereza Mihalikova lift women’s doubles title

Britain’s Oliva Nicholls and Slovakia’s Tereza Mihalikova clinched the women’s doubles title at the HSBC Championships in a deciding match tie-break.
Nicholls and Mihalikova held strong to beat Leylah Fernandez and Laura Siegemund 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-5 to be crowned Queen’s Club champions.
The duo had two chances to serve for the championships in the second set but kept their nerve in the match-deciding tie-break to win their second title together.
Both of their titles have come in WTA 500 events on grass, having won the Berlin Open together last year.
“We’ve been playing together for two years now – this is actually our two-year anniversary, so its nice to finish it with a trophy,” said British doubles No.1 Nicholls.
“This is honestly so surreal for me to have won this tournament at home. I grew up watching this. I used to come home from school and turn this on. I was inspired by Tim (Henman) and Andy (Murray).
“To have a women’s event here and to even be playing, let alone winning, is honestly incredible.”

Nicholls & Mihalikova’s path to the HSBC Championships title
- First round: bt. Durija Jurak Schreiber (CRO) & Alicja Rosolska (POL) 5-7, 6-0, 10-7
- Quarter-final: bt. Anna Danilina (KAZ) & Aleksandra Krunic (SRB) (1) 6-4, 6-4
- Semi-final: bt. Hanyu Guo (CHN) & Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) 4-6, 7-5, 12-10
- Final: bt. Leylah Fernandez (CAN) & Laura Siegemund (GER) 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-5
Despite missing out by the tightest of margins, the Canadian, German duo were full of praise for the new champions and the tournament as a whole.
“Congrats to you two, a great week, too good for us,” said Siegemund. “I can’t say that we didn’t give everything. You deserved the win.
“It’s my first time here in Queen’s, I was really amazed. What a club, what an audience, every match full from the first day. I really enjoyed my week here.”
It was an impressive start to the match for Nicholls and Mihalikova, who got an early break and only dropped six points on serve in the opening set.
The reigning Berlin champions stayed on the front foot and had the chance to serve for the match twice late in the second set. However, on both occasions, Fernandez and Siegemund dug deep to find a way to break back and eventually force a tie-break.
At 5-4 in the tie-break, Siegemund found an inch-perfect lob to get the mini break over the Slovakian’s serve, before the German tucked away a volley on their first set point.
Mihalikova dispatched a smash winner to set up five championship points, and this time, they managed to get over the line.
After Siegemund dragged a backhand wide, Nicholls and Mihalikova collapsed to the floor in celebration of their second grass court title.
