HSBC Championships 2025: Jack Draper drawn in same quarter as Taylor Fritz; Cam Norrie & Dan Evans to face seeds in first round

The draws have been announced for the ATP event at the HSBC Championships as the world’s best players get set to battle it out on the famous grass courts of The Queen’s Club.

Here’s a rundown of who the British players will face at the HSBC Championships and their paths through the draw.

HSBC Championships ATP - First round

Challenges facing Draper and Fearnley in later rounds, while Norrie, Harris and Evans face tricky openers

Jack Draper is on the hunt for his first title on home soil as he kicks off his season with a first round meeting with Jenson Brooksby.

The American player is fresh off a short run at the Lexus Ilkley Open where he was knocked out in the second round by British qualifier Oliver Crawford. Draper defeated Brooksby at Indian Wells this year on his way to his first ATP Masters 1000 title.

A tough side of the draw awaits Draper in the later rounds – the British No.1 could face Frances Tiafoe in the quarter-final and either reigning Eastbourne Open champion Taylor Fritz or fifth seed Alex de Minaur in the semis.

Jacob Fearnley will be looking to build on his ATP Challenger title in Nottingham last year as he opens his British grass court campaign with a first round match up against a qualifier.

Should he win, the British No.2 could face a clash with third seed Fritz in the second round.

Cam Norrie faces an early challenge as he takes on eighth seed Jakub Mensik in the first round – the Czech star is on a standout run on the ATP Tour this year, including winning his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open.

Standing in the way of the Brit’s path through the tournament is world No.9 and 2023 semi-finalist Holger Rune who could be a potential opponent in the quarter-finals.

A tough draw awaits 2024 quarter-finalist Billy Harris - he’ll play Canadian Gabriel Diallo first who’s currently on a semi-final run at the ATP 250 tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch.

If the Brit makes it through, he’ll face 2023 finalist De Minaur or Stuttgart Open quarter-finalist Jiri Lehecka.

Dan Evans – who kicked off his grass court season at the Lexus Birmingham Open earlier this month – will face seventh seed Tiafoe in the opening round. The two former Nottingham champions will battle it out for the chance to play either Brandon Nakashima or Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the second round.

At the opposite side of the draw to Draper, 2023 Champion and top seed Carlos Alcaraz will face countryman Alejandro Davidovic Fokina in his first match on the grass.

Looming in the same quarter of the draw as the world No.2, is American star Ben Shelton, who’s playing in the tournament for the third consecutive year and looking to better his 2023 second round run.

Another exciting first round match up sees French legend Gael Monfils face Grigor Dimitrov, who won the title at The Queen’s Club in 2014.
