League and County Cup winners receive trophies and pennants

Tennis Wales was delighted to welcome some of the winning league and county cup teams to our North and South Wales Annual Open Meetings.

Following the meetings, Tennis Wales CEO Simon Johnson presented those present with their trophies/pennants and/or badges.

In addition Peter Boshier-Jones, presented the Peter Boshier-Jones Trophy to Gethin Williams, and the Shirley May-James Trophy to Alexandra Nikonenko - following their Adult Open wins at the Welsh Tennis Championships.  Peter won the British Seniors Grass Court Championships and is number 1 in his age group in GB, with a world ranking of 7.

The winning teams present at the meetings were:

  • North Wales Ladies Team – promoted from Group 5 in the Summer County Cup
  • South Wales U12 Girls Team – qualified for National Finals
  • South Wales U14 Boys Team – qualified and win the National Finals
  • South Wales U18 Girls Team – promoted from Group 3A
  • South Wales Men’s Over 35s County Cup team – won Group 4A
  • South Wales Ladies Over 35s County Cup Team – promoted from Group 3B
  • North Wales Ladies Over 35s County Cup Team – promoted from Group 6B
  • Cardiff Lawn Tennis Club – League winners
  • Merthyr Lawn Tennis Club – League winners
  • Bridgend Lawn Tennis Club - League winners
  • Penarth Lawn Tennis Club – League winners
  • Allt-yr-yn Lawn Tennis Club – League winners
  • Mackintosh Lawn Tennis Club – League winners
  • Windsor Penarth Lawn Tennis Club – League winners
  • Stow Park Lawn Tennis Club – League winners
  • Wrexham Tennis Club – League winners
  • Mold Tennis Club – League winners

Well done to all our county and leagues winners. Those who couldn’t join us will receive their pennants/badges over the next few weeks.
