Inaugural South Wales over-35s tournament a success

Kath Mutter and Rob Williams were the winners of the inaugural South Wales Over 35s mixed doubles tournament.

They beat Jenny Burrows and Ken East in a keenly-contested final at David Lloyd Leisure, Cardiff.
Rhona and Stephen Lawrence won the consolation draw.
12 pairs entered the competition, which was organised by Liz Singer and refereed by Katherine Maddox-Lyon, including some younger pairs who hadn’t played in a South Wales seniors tournament before.
Liz organised the tournament after receiving a grant from the LTA to run a sustainable mixed doubles event. It is hoped that it will become an annual event, and that next year will see even more players take part.
