Lumsden & Fryer named national champions, while McHugh wins on pro tour

They picked up the titles at the Scottish National Open Championships at the end of an action-packed weekend at the University of Stirling.
Top seed Lumsden was back on home soil following a fantastic year which saw her compete at all four Grand Slams and travel the world on the WTA Tour, and she clinched the trophy in style with a 6-1, 6-1 final win over Teodora Prisadnikova.
That triumph completed a weekend which saw 2018 and 2019 TS Open Tour Finals champion Lumsden enjoy wins over Mia Tinsley, Halle Pringle and Chloe Cleaver as she dropped just a single set (v Pringle) on her return to the domestic tour.
On the men’s side, Fryer became national champion after chalking up five wins in three days, culminating in a 6-3, 6-4 win over Jay Johnson-Hauldren.
Like Lumsden, Fryer also dropped just one set all week, coming through a tense semi-final to beat Alfie King 5-7, 6-2, 10-8.
He also enjoyed victories over Nathan Mansfield, Aaron Dawson and Nicolas Rosenzweig as he swept his way to the title.
The TS Open Tour concludes with the Finals at Scotstoun on 15 and 16 December – stay tuned for more information in the weeks ahead.
