Tennis Scotland are delighted to announce the appointment of the former Scottish number one and professional player Anna Brogan to our performance coaching team.
Joining from the David Ferrer Tennis Academy in Spain, where she has been coaching junior players from around the world, Anna has been named as a Performance Coach in the Scottish Player Development Centre (SPDC), which supports talented young players aged between 11 and 16 from around Scotland.
Anna, who will be working alongside SPDC Head Coach Jonny O’Mara, brings a wealth of experience to her new role having joined the Ferrer Academy following a successful playing career which saw her win three ITF World Tennis Tour titles and come within one victory of qualifying for the main draw at Wimbledon in 2023.
Commenting on her new role with Tennis Scotland, 27-year-old Anna said: “It’s an honour to be joining the fantastic team at Tennis Scotland at such an exciting time for the sport and I’m looking forward to helping to build on the positive environment being created in the SPDC. I’m highly motivated and passionate about working with young players and can’t wait to get out on court to help them reach their potential.”
The appointment was welcomed by Tennis Scotland Head of Performance Karen Ross, who said: “I’m excited by the addition of Anna to our motivated and passionate coaching team, who are all working together to develop talented young Scottish players. We are committed to providing players with a platform to succeed and supporting them on their tennis journey. Being able to draw on the knowledge and experience of coaches such as Anna can only help to accelerate their development as tennis players and allow them to flourish.”
The SPDC is just one part of the overall national performance programme, the Scottish National Player Pathway (SNPP), which also sees under 11s supported at a local level and over 16s provided with coach support and training at national venues.
The SNPP was launched in summer 2024 under a five-year £2.5 million investment from the LTA as part of the overall British performance strategy and gives Scottish players access to a world-class coaching programme without leaving home.
The programme is delivered from a central base at the University of Stirling, as well as from Oriam in Edinburgh and Scotstoun in Glasgow. Other members of the Tennis Scotland performance team include the highly experienced coaches Toby Smith and Euan McGinn, and strength and conditioning specialist David Rodriguez.
