17 year old Johannus Monday successfully retained his men’s singles title at the 2019 LTA British Tour event at the Newlands club in Glasgow.

The Yorkshire left-hander, a sixth former at Merchiston Castle school in Edinburgh, won four rounds of matches beating Lancashire’s David Quayle 6-2 7-5 in Sunday’s final.

World-ranked Ingrid Vojcinakova, currently studying at Stirling University, had to use all her experience in the women’s final to beat junior Holly Staff from Manchester.
