Introduction

Working closely with the Students’ Union Student Tennis Club, the University Tennis Coordinator will be a lead driver of the student tennis experience at the University of Bath. Acting as the programme’s “front of house” presence, the postholder will combine hands on coaching, team management, student engagement, and operational co-ordination to ensure both the BUCS teams and broader student club continue to thrive. This role is designed to strengthen the delivery, visibility, and ambition of the University tennis offer.

Working within a high performance environment and alongside a team of expert coaches the postholder will build strong relationships with students, The SU, and the Student Club Tennis Committee. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the wider tennis programme.
This position is set to elevate the student experience, professionalise programme delivery, and ensure Team Bath Tennis remains aligned with the latest LTA University programme outcomes.

Roles & Responsibilities

1) Tennis Committee Liaison

The postholder will act as the main link between Team Bath Tennis and the Students’ Union Tennis Committee, ensuring strong collaboration, clear communication, and alignment across all student led tennis activity.

2) Student Coaching Team (SCT)

As leader of the Student Coaching Team, the postholder will manage, mentor, and grow a motivated volunteer coaching and competition organiser workforce that supports club sessions, engagement events, and student development.

Responsibilities include:

•Recruitment & Onboarding
•Training & Mentoring with the aid of the Head of Development Tennis
•Scheduling & Oversight

3) Student Club Coaching & Competition

The postholder will take ownership of the delivery, visibility, and growth of the student club coaching and competition programme.

Responsibilities include:

•Quality coaching for non-BUCS players
•Session Leadership & Delivery
•Developing the programme to create opportunities for more students to compete in appropriate competition
•Marketing & Engagement via SU and Student Channels
•Monitoring Participation & Collecting Feedback
•Creating a Positive, Inclusive Environment

4) First Point of Contact within the Team Bath Tennis Programme for programme related Student Communications

The postholder will handle all student facing communications relating to the programmes being led, ensuring clarity, professionalism, and quick response times.

5) BUCS Administration

Working closely with the SU, the postholder will support the Student Club Committee to ensure the operational and administrative tasks of all University of Bath BUCS tennis teams are completed. This includes full co-ordination of weekly fixtures, supporting players throughout the season, and ensuring the programme meets all BUCS regulations.

•Liaise with Academy coaching team so all players feel supported
