Head of Tennis - Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre
| We are looking for a dynamic Head of Tennis to manage, develop and grow the tennis offering at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre. Working closely with our other sport-specific leads across Padel and Pickleball, and initially alongside the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Tennis will provide the leadership, energy and expertise to substantially increase participation, improve community engagement and develop an outstanding tennis programme. The role combines strategic leadership with on-court delivery and will include: Leading the phased expansion of our recreational tennis programme from two to five days per week. Developing a comprehensive player pathway from first experience through recreational and development tennis, with clear progression into appropriate performance pathways. Designing and implementing a clear programme curriculum embedding core LTA Youth principles. Growing junior and adult participation through coaching, social play and competition. Building on our established schools network to create clear pathways into the Centre. Leveraging the Lexus Wrexham Open and other major events to create a meaningful participation legacy. Leading, supporting and developing our growing tennis coaching workforce. Taking ownership of programme performance, including participation, retention, income, court utilisation and coaching capacity. Developing an outstanding player and parent experience and building a strong tennis community at the Centre. This is a self-employed position, with remuneration comprising a monthly leadership retainer alongside paid programme delivery and individual coaching opportunities. |
Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre is the largest community indoor tennis centre in Wales and one of the largest racquet-sport facilities in the North West.
Recently refurbished, the Centre boasts seven indoor tennis courts, five outdoor tennis courts, three covered padel courts and a growing commitment to pickleball.
Whilst the Centre has invested heavily in complementary racquet sports in recent years, our heritage is firmly rooted in tennis and we have ambitious plans to substantially grow participation and establish Wrexham as the leading place to play tennis in North Wales.
We are also the proud host of the ITF World Tennis Tour – Lexus Wrexham Open, providing an outstanding opportunity to engage our community, inspire players and introduce new people to tennis.

Essential
LTA Level 3 Coach qualification or above with current LTA Accreditation.
Proven experience of delivering high-quality tennis coaching across a range of ages and abilities.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, support and develop a coaching team.
Demonstrable ability to grow participation and develop successful tennis programmes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with players, parents, coaches and stakeholders.
Commercial awareness and confidence taking ownership of programme performance.
Organised, proactive and able to operate with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
Genuine commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming tennis environment and getting more people playing.
Desirable
LTA Level 4 qualification or above.
Previous experience leading or managing a tennis programme, club or coaching team.
Experience of schools, community outreach and participation initiatives.
Experience developing coaches through the LTA qualification pathway.
Understanding of the Tennis Wales/LTA player pathway and wider tennis landscape.
Experience using data and KPIs to evaluate and improve programme performance.
