Head Tennis Coach Vacancy – Saltford Tennis Club, Bristol
Award winning Saltford Tennis Club, based between Bristol and Bath, is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable tennis coach to deliver and help develop a thriving community coaching programme for players of all ages and abilities.
This is an exciting opportunity for a coach who enjoys working across participation, development, and inclusive tennis environments. The programme caters to a broad range of players, from toddlers taking their first steps into tennis through to experienced adult players and walking tennis participants.
SLTC Currently fund 20 hours a week at £30 per hour, no charge for court hire for private lessons.
Programme Overview
The successful coach will work with a varied weekly programme including:
•Toddler tennis sessions (ages 2–4)
•Mini Red, Orange, and Green junior development groups (ages 4–12)
•Junior improver and intermediate groups (ages 11–16)
•Adult beginner, improver, intermediate, and advanced sessions
•Cardio Tennis
•Walking Tennis
•Inclusive Tennis sessions
•Tennis sessions for people living with Parkinson’s
The programme focuses on creating a welcoming, enjoyable, and progressive environment where players can improve technically, physically, and socially regardless of age or experience level.
Key Responsibilities
•Deliver engaging and well-structured group coaching sessions
•Adapt coaching methods to suit different ages, abilities, and learning styles
•Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants
•Develop players’ technical, tactical, and movement skills appropriately for their stage
•Communicate effectively with juniors, adults, parents, and club members
•Support player retention and progression within the programme
•Ensure safe session delivery and appropriate safeguarding standards
•Assist with club events, promotions, and community engagement where appropriate
Skills & Qualities Required
The ideal candidate will:
•Have strong communication and people skills
•Be confident coaching a wide range of ages and standards
•Demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and adaptability
•Be able to manage groups effectively and maintain high energy within sessions
•Have experience or interest in inclusive and disability tennis environments
•Understand player development pathways from beginner to advanced level
•Be organised, punctual, and professional in presentation and conduct
Qualifications & Experience
Preferred requirements include:
•LTA Accredited Coach minimum status 2 or 3.
•Valid DBS check and safeguarding training
•First aid qualification
•Experience delivering junior and adult group coaching
•Experience with disability, inclusive, or walking tennis is desirable but not essential
Additional Opportunities
Alongside the group coaching programme, there will also be opportunities to build a private coaching client base through individual and small group lessons. The club has an active membership and strong player participation, creating excellent potential for coaches looking to grow their own coaching business alongside the programme hours.
