Head Coach - Prestbury Village Lawn Tennis Club, Cheshire
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organise and deliver a high-quality coaching programme across all ages and abilities — junior, adult, beginner to performance, and social tennis.
•Lead junior development: mini tennis pathways, competition entry (Road to Wimbledon, County Leagues, Team Challenge) and the annual Junior Club Championships.
•Design a varied school-holiday programme to grow membership and sustain junior participation.
•Continue to grow the coaching programme across all age groups, creating opportunities for new and existing members.
•Manage, motivate and develop a team of assistant coaches, ensuring all coaching meets LTA safeguarding, equality and diversity standards.
•Manage bookings, scheduling and member communications via the club's digital platforms; report to the committee monthly and contribute to club marketing.
•Build strong relationships with players, parents, committee members and local schools.
•Support club open days, social events, competitions and membership recruitment throughout the year.
We'd also love to see:
•New formats such as Walking Tennis, Pickleball, and sessions for players with learning difficulties.
•Stronger links with local schools and community groups to bring in new players.
•An active player, willing to compete in one of our adult league teams.
Prestbury Tennis Club sits in the heart of rural Cheshire, within easy reach of Macclesfield, Bollington, Poynton, Adlington, Alderley Edge and Wilmslow. A long-established club, we recently celebrated our 75th anniversary.
We offer three all-weather artificial clay courts and five artificial grass courts, all fully floodlit. Our recently refurbished clubhouse has full-length windows overlooking the courts, a modern kitchen, bar and changing facilities, and a spacious hall with table tennis. The Head Coach has their own cabin with office and equipment storage, positioned at the club entrance for maximum visibility to arriving members.
Prestbury is a highly competitive club, fielding Senior Teams in the North East Cheshire Tennis League (NECTL) Summer and Winter Leagues — including promotion to the Premier Division at the end of this season — and 8 Junior teams in the LTA National League Competition. We have a vibrant membership of circa 450+ players, junior and adult.
We're looking for an inspiring leader, on and off the court — someone with the business drive to run a successful self-employed coaching practice, the organisational skill to manage a coaching team, and the personality to become a familiar, welcoming face around the club.

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable building relationships with parents, players, committee members and schools.
•Confident operating as a self-employed coach — managing your own administration and client relationships within club policy.
•A genuine passion for growing participation and creating a welcoming club environment.
