Head Coach - Billingshurst Lawn Tennis Club
As Head Coach, you will have overall responsibility for the planning, delivery and development
of the club's coaching programme.
You will be expected to take ownership of the coaching operation, develop strong relationships with members and local schools, attract new players and help create a vibrant tennis environment at the club.
The role will involve coaching across all levels and age groups, from beginners and juniors through to competitive players and adults.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Player Development
● Deliver high-quality individual and group coaching sessions.
● Develop and manage a structured coaching programme for juniors and adults.
● Provide opportunities for players of all abilities, from beginners through to competitive
players.
● Support the development of junior pathways and performance players.
● Organise and deliver holiday camps, tennis courses and other coaching activities.
● Encourage participation in club competitions, team tennis and social tennis.
● Identify opportunities to introduce new players to the club and retain existing members.
Club Development
● Take the lead in developing and expanding the club's coaching programme.
● Work with the Committee to establish an annual coaching strategy and objectives.
● Help increase junior and adult membership through coaching initiatives.
● Develop links with local schools, community groups and other organisations.
● Promote tennis within the local community.
● Support the club's wider programme of events, competitions and activities.
● Contribute ideas and initiatives that enhance the overall member experience.
Business & Administration
● Operate the coaching programme as an independent/self-employed business.
● Manage your own coaching diary, bookings, payments and administration.
● Set appropriate coaching prices and packages in consultation with the Club Committee.
● Promote coaching activities through appropriate channels, including social media and
club communications.
● Recruit and manage additional qualified coaches or assistants where appropriate.
● Maintain appropriate records and ensure all coaching activities are professionally
organised.
Club & Member Relationships
● Build positive and professional relationships with members, parents, volunteers and
Committee members.
● Become a visible and approachable presence within the club.
● Attend relevant club meetings and events where required.
● Work collaboratively with the Committee while retaining appropriate independence in the
day-to-day running of the coaching operation.
● Represent the values and ethos of Billingshurst Tennis Club at all times.

We have a growing membership of over 350 members, 4 x all weather quick draining artificial
clay courts and a modern, well equipped single storey club house
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and commercially minded Head Coach to lead the development of tennis at the club and take overall responsibility for delivering an engaging, inclusive and high-quality coaching programme.
This is an exciting opportunity for a coach who wants the freedom and responsibility to run and develop their own coaching business within an established club environment, while working closely with the Committee and wider membership.
We are looking for someone who is:
● An experienced and enthusiastic tennis coach.
● Qualified to LTA Level 3 coaching.
● Club coach accreditation
● Passionate about developing players and growing participation in tennis.
● Confident coaching children, juniors and adults of varying abilities.
● Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for their own business.
● Entrepreneurial and motivated to grow a successful coaching programme.
● Organised, reliable and professional.
● An excellent communicator who can build strong relationships with players and parents.
● Able to create a fun, welcoming and inclusive coaching environment.
● Interested in developing competitive tennis as well as recreational participation.
● Willing to become actively involved in the wider life of the club.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
● Experience as a Head Coach or Lead Coach.
● Experience running a club coaching programme.
● Experience recruiting and managing assistant coaches.
● Experience delivering junior performance programmes.
● Experience working with local schools or community organisations.
● Experience organising tennis camps, events and competitions.
● A track record of growing participation, membership or coaching revenue.
