Full-time Level 3 Tennis Coach, with salary
We are offering a full-time role (part-employed, part-self-employed), with guaranteed, salaried hours within the group coaching programme, alongside the opportunity to generate additional income through private coaching. There is a guarantee of 18.5 hours per week during termtime, including a paid time allowance for court setup, and 12 hours per week during school holidays. These hours will be salaried, and come with employment benefits such as paid holiday and pension contributions. Although we are an outdoor programme, these hours are guaranteed even if sessions are cancelled due to poor weather.
The salaried element of this role is ~£20,000 per annum.
As the sole coach offering private lessons within the junior coaching programme (currently 220 participants), there is significant opportunity to generate self-employed income. The current coach who is leaving at the end of 2026 delivers 15-20 hours of private lessons every week, and it is likely that most of his clients will wish to continue with a new coach in the new year. There are numerous additional clients that would benefit from individual coaching.
The expected income from private coaching, assuming 15 hours per week, and allowing for cancellations and court fees, is around £18,000 per annum.
The group coaching currently takes place over 4 days, with ample opportunity for weeknight, daytime and weekend private coaching. The current coach has Sunday off, and this would be available to the successful candidate too. Your expected working week is around 35 hours during termtime, 27 hours during school holidays, and with 5.6 weeks of paid holiday. Sessions are grouped together, rather than spread throughout the day.
Although the expected income for this role is around £38-40,000, there are still opportunities for increased income, including:
- School sessions
- Racquet stringing
- Tournaments
As a small family business, we are committed to taking care of our staff, with coaches generally remaining part of the team for 3-7 years. We offer the following additional benefits:
- Relocation grant of up to £1,000 (tax free)
- Centralised administration and marketing, allowing coaches to focus on the on-court experience
- Private clients directed towards our coaches
- Mentoring and support
- Training in any areas that are requested
- Connection with Hampshire & IOW Tennis
As the role progresses, there are significant opportunities for growth, including the possibility of becoming the Head Coach.
