Community Tennis Coach
Join our Parks Tennis Bexley team as a Community Tennis Coach, where your passion for tennis can make a real difference! We're seeking an enthusiastic individual with a minimum LTA Level 2 coaching qualification who is eager to forge strong connections with community partners such as schools, Bexley Council departments, and various organisations. In this role, you'll bring the joy of tennis to underrepresented groups by collaborating with these partners along with delivering our core programming at our park sites for both children and adults.
As a Community Tennis Coach, you'll be at the forefront of promoting fun, inclusive activities that encourage a healthy, active lifestyle for Bexley residents. Your schedule will include weekdays and weekends, offering you the flexibility to grow your individual client base and lead additional group coaching sessions at several of our tennis sites. With your dedication, you'll help enhance tennis access and grow participation, ensuring that our programmes cater to the needs of diverse groups. Key Responsibilities:
Group Coaching: Create, plan and lead engaging and effective group coaching lessons at our park sites to participants of all ages and skill levels, ensuring a fun and supportive environment.
Curriculum delivery: Develop and implement tennis curriculum and after-school activities in collaboration with local schools
Community Engagement: Work closely with community organisations to provide tennis opportunities for all, including initiatives for walking tennis, pickleball and disability tennis sessions.
Positive Role Model: Build good rapport with customers, including those who are young, inactive, or from low-income and marginalised communities, acting as a positive role model.
Promote Parks Tennis and Community Programmes: Actively engage with participants and community members in Bexley, promoting our parks tennis programmes to encourage broader participation and excitement about the sport.
Facilitate Exit Routes for Participants: Ensure that all participants involved in community activities have clear pathways to regular play, making it easy for them to continue their tennis journey
Train Community Champions: Empower community champions by training them to become Tennis Activators. Equip them with the skills and knowledge to incorporate tennis into their multi-sport delivery.
Monitor & Evaluate: Maintain accurate records of participant progress, feedback and progress using online software.
- Generate reports on participants and participation trends for management analysis
We’re a Community Interest Company committed to delivering great community tennis programmes across Bexley and Greenwich for the benefit of all. We want to make tennis the most popular sport in both boroughs. We will achieve this by providing tennis activity, which is inclusive, social, very easy to access, and designed in partnership with local people.
We manage nine community tennis venues across Bexley and Greenwich, offering pay & play, season tickets, and coaching sessions for juniors and adults of all ages and abilities. We provide paid, subsidised, and free coaching sessions every week to ensure everyone can access tennis
Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
•A qualification in tennis or multi-sports coaching and demonstrate a commitment to obtaining the LTA Level 2 coaching qualification
•Experience in coaching tennis, preferably in a community or school setting.
•Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and organisations.
•Ability to inspire and motivate participants to achieve their goals and maintain an active lifestyle
•Basic first aid and safety knowledge to ensure a safe environment for all participants
•A commitment to implement the TwistFizz Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies
•Valid driver’s license, with the ability to travel to various community sites and schools
Desired:
•A good knowledge of the barriers that some children and young people may face when accessing sport or PE
•Proficient in using computer systems and software, including CRM platforms and booking systems.
