I’m Ewan Hughes, an LTA Level 3 coach and Head Coach at Torfaen, running Phase Tennis Academy. I work with players of all levels, from beginners to performance athletes, with a focus on footwork, mindset, and smart decision-making. My coaching is built around the idea that every step counts — helping players build strong foundations, improve match confidence, and enjoy the process of getting better every time they step on court.

Coach Accreditation is the LTA’s professional membership scheme for coaches. Being accredited ensures that a coach is qualified, insured and meets safe-to-practice standards, such as first aid and safeguarding training. An Accredited+ coach also commits to a minimum of 15 hours of professional development training each year.
Qualifications range from 1 to 5 and indicate the level of formally-assessed training a coach has completed. Coaches begin the LTA Qualification pathway at LTA Assistant (Level 1) and are able to train up to Master Coach (Level 5), the highest available LTA qualification. When choosing a coach we recommend taking into account qualifications, experience and ongoing CPD training, which can be seen in their 'Recently completed training courses' tab.
