Jack Draper rises to become the new British No.1
• 2 MINUTE READ
22-year-old Jack Draper is the new British No.1 after winning his first ATP title at the Stuttgart Open over the weekend and rising to world No.31.
Draper will be the 19th British man to reach the top of the domestic rankings since 1973 having overtaken Cam Norrie who has held the spot since October 2021.
The Briton’s latest milestone comes after an impressive 10 months since returning from injury in August last year.
Having made the fourth round at a Grand Slam for the first time in his career at the US Open in 2023, Draper has since gone on to reach ATP finals in Sofia and Adelaide, before defeating Matteo Berrettini on Sunday in Stuttgart to claim his maiden tour-level title.
The win saw him climb 10 places in the ATP rankings to not only overtake Norrie but seal a new career-high ranking.
Last year the Briton also made his debut for the Lexus GB Davis Cup team at the Group Stages in Manchester where he defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis on debut.
A former junior Wimbledon runner-up, Draper has starred at every level of the game and is now amongst the top players in the world. He was the first Brit to qualify for the Next Gen ATP Finals, became the first player to win four Challengers in the opening quarter of a season, and quickly worked his way up to to world’s top 50 with strong performances at cinch Championships, Wimbledon and ATP Masters in Miami, Madrid and Montreal.
Draper is a graduate of our Pro Scholarship Programme – the highest level of support for players aged 16-24 – and continues to be supported through our Elite programme.
