Cincinnati Open 2025: Emma Raducanu & Katie Boulter set for potential second round clash
• 2 MINUTE READ
The draws for the Cincinnati Open has been announced with British stars set to get their campaigns underway in Ohio from Thursday 7 August.
Five Brits are set to compete in this year’s singles draws including Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Cam Norrie and Jacob Fearnley.
Cincinnati Open 2025 draw
- Emma Raducanu (GBR) (30) vs Bye
- Katie Boulter (GBR) vs Olga Danilovic (SRB)
- Sonay Kartal (GBR) vs Caroline Garcia (FRA)
- Cam Norrie (GBR) (32) vs Bye
- Jacob Fearnley (GBR) vs Zizou Bergs (BEL)
British No.1 and 30th seed Raducanu has a bye in the first round but could potentially face an all-British clash with Billie Jean King Cup teammate Boulter in round two.
Boulter will look for her first career win in Cincinnati with a tough opening round draw against world No.40 Olga Danilovic. The British No.2 will be looking for her first win of the hard-court season.
Should Raducanu and Boulter face each other in the second round, it would be their first meeting since the Nottingham semi-final in 2023. The winner of that match could go on to potentially play world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka.
Finally in the women’s draw, Kartal will open against former champion and 2022 WTA Finals winner Caroline Garcia. This will be Kartal’s first match since her fourth round run at Wimbledon this summer.
A win would book her a second round clash with 11th seed Karolina Muchova.
Norrie is back amongst the seeded players in Cincinnati and with that, the 29-year-old has a bye in the opening round.
In the second round he will play either Germany’s Daniel Altmaier or Roberto Bautista Agut in a replay of their Wimbledon epic a few weeks ago. Waiting in the third round could be fifth seed Ben Shelton.
Fearnley will make his Cincinnati Open debut up against Belgian Zizou Bergs. Both players are looking to pick up some form ahead of the US Open and a few results in Ohio could provide the perfect platform. It will be the first meeting between the two.
If Fearnley wins the opening round, he would play 31st seed Lorenzo Sonego before a potential clash with fourth seed Taylor Fritz.
