Andy Murray has announced that he is set to retire from tennis after the 2024 Paris Olympic Games starting from Saturday 27 July.

In a post on X, Murray said that he had: “Arrived in Paris for my last ever tennis tournament.”

Two-time Olympic gold medallist Murray will be competing in his fifth Games in Paris, where he will feature in both the singles and doubles draw alongside Davis Cup teammate Dan Evans.

The announcement comes just a few weeks after Murray received a fitting tribute on Centre Court after his final match at Wimbledon.

In his post, he went on to say, “Competing for Team GB have been by far the most memorable weeks of my career and I’m extremely proud to get do it one final time!”

Murray is the only male player to have won two Olympic gold medals in tennis, winning back-to-back events at London 2012 and Rio 2016. The 37-year-old was also a silver medallist in the mixed doubles in 2012 with Laura Robson.

The former British No.1 set to end his career having won three Grand Slam titles (US Open 2012, Wimbledon 2013, 2016), lifted the Davis Cup trophy in 2015 and is the only British male to reach world No.1 in singles during the Open Era.
