Rally Together London takes centre stage at Trafalgar Square
• 3 minute read
Community spirit, opportunity and inspiration were at the heart of Trafalgar Square as Rally Together London brought young people from across the capital into one of the city’s most iconic sporting showcases.
As part of the wider HSBC Championships, the LTA, together with the Mayor of London and FAGE welcomed everyone to the Square for another exciting showcase of tennis.
Rally Together London delivered a vibrant, festival-style tennis experience designed to connect communities, celebrate participation, and open up new pathways into the sport.
Throughout the day, community organisations from across London including Tennis for All, TETH, The Dome and NTA Barking and Dagenham took to a pop-up Centre Court in the Square, swapping their local venues for a truly unique stage in the heart of the capital. Each group took part in coach-led sessions, alongside activity across the FAGE LTA Youth Zone and LTA Tennis Foundation.
More than just a day of tennis, the activation reflected the wider ambition of Rally Together London - to make tennis more accessible, inclusive and relevant to young people in the city.
Delivered in partnership with the Mayor of London, the half a million-pound investment over three years aims to get at least 5,500 more young people into tennis, especially those from underserved boroughs. The initiative will train 250 people from under-represented backgrounds - at least 50% of whom will be female - to join the tennis workforce and deliver accessible sessions for local communities.

It’s really about bringing people together. It’s a passion of mine to help people and I love working with children across all age groups
By bringing participants together in such a high-profile setting, the event shone a light on the power of sport to inspire confidence, build connections and foster ambition.
The programme also provided valuable opportunities behind the scenes, with young Londoners working as paid coach trainees to support delivery across the day. This hands-on experience was a key part of the initiative, helping the next generation to develop skills, gain experience and see a future in the sport.
Alongside the on-court action, community voices took centre stage through a series of Q&A moments, giving participants, activators and partners a platform to share their experiences and celebrate the impact of the programme.

Vivien Kyagaba, a Trainee Activator, with Tennis for All, said: “I’ve definitely learned a few things about tennis, especially since I’m actually very new to the sport myself. It’s really about bringing people together.
"It’s a passion of mine to help people and I love working with children across all age groups. I’m looking forward to what’s next. I hope to increase my level in tennis. I love it - it’s great.”
John Golding, Head of Delivery, London & South East for the LTA, said:
“This is exactly what Rally Together London is all about - creating opportunities for young people to experience tennis in a way that feels exciting, inclusive and inspiring. Bringing community groups into Trafalgar Square, onto a stage like this, was incredibly powerful.
“It not only celebrated the progress we are making together but also showed what’s possible when we work with partners across London to open up the sport to more people.”
From first-time players to future coaches, Rally Together London in Trafalgar Square showcased not just tennis, but the communities and individuals shaping its future in the capital.
