Murray Trophy - Glasgow: Murray and Smith seal semi-final spot

Jamie Murray is in to the semi-finals of the doubles competition at the Murray Trophy – Glasgow as he and partner John-Patrick Smith overcame Turkish pair Altug Celikbilek and Cem Ilkel on Friday night.

Murray and Smith look assured throughout as they won a closely fought match 6-3, 6-4 in front of a packed crowd at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre. The top seeds play Marek Gengel and Ramkumar Ramanathan in Saturday’s semi-final.

Elsewhere on Friday, Alexandre Muller came from behind to upset seventh seed Nicola Kuhn 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 to set up a semi-final with India’s Ramanathan, who battled past German Daniel Masur 7-5, 7-6(4).

The second singles semi-final will see Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori take on Jurij Rodionov from Austria after both dominated their respective quarter-finals on Friday.

Saturday’s action gets underway at midday on Centre Court with Ruben Bemelmans and Daniel Masur taking on second seeds Nathaniel Lammons and Antonio Sancic for a place in the doubles final.

Murray and Smith will play their semi-final last on Centre Court.
