His triumphant victory saw him win 10 sets in a row to become the fourth Spanish player to lift the trophy at the historical Queen’s Club - joining the likes of tennis legends such as Feliciano Lopez and Rafael Nadal.

“It means a lot to have my name on this trophy” Alcaraz said with a beaming grin in his on-court interview.

“I’ve watched this tournament since I started playing tennis. It’s been really special for me to play here - so many legends have won here and to see my name on that trophy and surrounded by the great champions is amazing”.

In a mouth-watering final that saw the week’s two best players battle it out to earn their maiden cinch Championships title, it was Alcaraz who found the breakthrough in the opening set after the Australian sent a forehand long facing his second break point at 4-4.

Despite receiving help from the physio at the end of the first set, Alcaraz didn't let his level slip, as the pair continued to go toe-to-toe to take the upper-hand in the second. A double fault from de Minaur gifted the Spaniard the vital break before he clinched the title on his first championship point.

With this trophy comes even bigger achievements for the 20-year-old, as he re-gains his position at the top of the world rankings to enter the upcoming Wimbledon Championships as the first seed.

"It helps a lot, to be top seed at Wimbledon, such a great event. It's amazing. It wouldn't be possible without the support of the people through the whole week.

“I started the tournament not really well, I had to adapt my movement a bit on grass. But it's been an amazing week and ending with a lot of energy and a high so coming to Wimbledon like this is good.”

Even during the few times when things weren’t going his way, the Spaniard continued to enjoy every second on Centre Court - playing with a smile that has captured the hearts of spectators across the week.

"Tennis is my life, tennis is everything. I always dreamed to be in these tournaments so on court I put a smile on my face I enjoy every single second and playing such great events I'm not going to be mad about.

"I try to enjoy every second and make the people enjoy watching tennis. To make people happy."

Concluding a victorious week at the cinch Championships with critical grass court experience under his belt and the fire in his belly to continue to conquer the surface, the soon-to-be world No.1’s next appearance will be at Wimbledon in a week's time.
