Billie Jean King Cup 2026: Great Britain vs Australia tie set for John Cain Arena

• 1 minute read

The Lexus Great Britain Billie Jean King Cup team will take on Australia at the John Cain Arena in Melbourne Park for their qualifying tie in April.

The John Cain Arena is the second largest stadium at Melbourne Park, the home of the Australian Open. The stadium has a capacity of over 10,000 people, creating a great atmosphere for both the players and the fans.

This will be the first time that the Billie Jean King Cup has come to Melbourne Park for 15 years.

The Brits will face the Australians from Friday 10 – Saturday 11 April. The winner of this Billie Jean King Cup Qualifier will progress to the Finals, taking place in Shenzhen, China, this September.

The tie will be played as best of five matches – including up to four singles and one doubles match across the two days.

Australia have also announced the No.1 player Maya Joint and Storm Hunter are set to compete in the tie.

This will be the 12th meeting of the two nations with Australia leading the head to head 8-3. Australia won their last meeting in the 2022 semi-finals in a deciding doubles rubber.

Last year, Great Britain made the semi-finals for the third time in four years and are currently third in the nations rankings.

More information on the Lexus Great Britain Billie Jean King Cup team nominations will be available soon.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 24 February at 6:00 GMT via Ticketek.
