Billie Jean King Cup 2024: Great Britain drawn against France in Qualifiers

• 1 MINUTE READ

The Lexus Great Britain Billie Jean King Cup team have drawn France in the 2024 Qualifiers.

The tie is set to take place on 12-13 April and will be hosted in France.

Great Britain and France will compete in a best of five match tie, with the winners progressing on to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. Meanwhile, the losing team will have to compete in a Play-Off tie later in the year to gain entry to the 2025 Qualifiers.

This will be repeat of the 2023 Qualifiers, where the Brits narrowly lost 3-1 to France in a match that saw the most tie-breaks ever in a Billie Jean King Cup tie (seven).

Great Britain returns to the Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers after defeating Sweden 3-1 in a Play-Off tie at London’s Copper Box Arena earlier this month. Two wins from British No.1 Katie Boulter and a tie-clinching victory from Harriet Dart saw the British side through to the Qualifiers once again next season.

Meanwhile, France bowed out in the Finals Group Stage after losing out to runners-up Italy 2-1 before beating Germany in their final match.

Great Britain and France have faced each other four times in the history of the competition with the current head-to-head at 2-2 (Great Britain: 1981 & 1976) (France: 2023 & 1975).
