Young tennis players given exciting chance to play in Wrexham Mini Open during Lexus Wrexham Open tournament

• 3 MINUTE READ

Young tennis players from across North Wales will have the chance to experience what it’s like to be a professional player during this month’s Lexus Wrexham Open tournament.

Junior players from clubs in the area have been invited to play in the Wrexham Mini Open, a fun competition organised by Tennis Wales for children aged 10 and under, to coincide with the ITF World Tennis Tour event taking place at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre.

Two youngsters from each of the participating clubs will receive the opportunity to play in the Wrexham Mini Open finals on the main show court, surrounded by stadium seating, at the Plas Coch Road venue ahead of semi-finals day for the tennis stars competing in the Lexus Wrexham Open

“It’s going to be exciting,” said Rebecca Hannibal, Competitions and Education Coordinator for Tennis Wales.

“We have seven venues from across North Wales involved, which is fantastic. They are all hosting internal competitions and then we will invite two players from every club to the Wrexham Mini Open competition on semi-finals day of the Lexus Wrexham Open.

“It will be a really fun experience and we will look to get some nice prizes for them, and some player autographs, to really bolster the experience.

“They will also get tickets to watch the tennis later in the day, which will hopefully inspire them, so we are looking forward to it.”

Rebecca added the clubs taking part are pleased to be involved with the Lexus Wrexham Open, a tournament which will bring world class tennis to North Wales.

The local children will have the chance to play at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre on Saturday, October 25.
