Tie-Break Fund 2026 is Live - Applications Now Open
• 4 minute read
Tennis Wales is proud to announce that the Tie-Break Fund 2026 is now open for applications, supporting programmes that open up tennis to new groups and communities across Wales.
As part of Tennis Wales’ continued commitment to Tennis Opened Up, the Tie-Break Fund offers grants of up to £7,000 to support to community groups, tennis venues & third sector organisations who help underrepresented groups access tennis & padel. Over the past two years, the fund has invested more than £50,000 into projects designed to make tennis more inclusive and accessible.
In 2025, the Tie-Break Fund supported 14 programmes across Wales, helping open tennis to a wide range of communities. Beneficiaries included Cardiff Baseliners, North Wales African Society, the Special Olympics, the Chinese Association in Wales and many others, each delivering impactful and inspiring work within their local community.
New for 2026 projects must be delivered in collaboration with a Wales based LTA Accredited Coach or an LTA Registered Venue, ensuring programmes are both high quality and accessible.
All projects that support EDI groups will be considered but projects that align with one of the following will take priority when being selected:
- Partnered with organisations that support and invest into women & girls participation in sport and support health and wellbeing in our venues.
- Establish dedicated LGBTQ+ tennis and padel programmes in 5 Local Authority areas.
- Help set up regular wheelchair tennis sessions for children under the age of 14 that could one day potentially enter the National Wheelchair Pathway with Tennis Wales.
- Create a pathway for diverse communities (LTA SERVES community groups) to regular participation in a park or club setting in 10 locations utilising the offer of Barclays Free Parks Tennis programmes (Aiming for 30 public parks to be involved in 2026 across Wales)
For a better understand of the projects likely to be funded, we recommend looking at our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Plan 2024-2026.
The application window opens on Monday 9th March and closes at 5pm on Friday 10th April. Successful applicants will receive grant offer letters around 20th April. All funded projects will be required to submit monitoring, evaluation and a case study by 4th November.
