In 2022, we welcomed our new the Tennis Wales President, Baroness Amanda Sater, who joined our judging panel. As the President, Amanda had the extremely difficult yet fantastic privilege to decide the recipient of the prestigious President’s Award, to recognise an extraordinary achievement in Welsh tennis. Commenting on judging the awards Amanda said:

In my first year as President I was delighted and honoured to be tasked to select the recipient of the 2021 President Award. This year’s nominations list was filled with outstanding entries, and it was extremely difficult to choose just one winner. I very much look toward to meeting all the winners of the other categories in March.

As in previous years, some of our categories will have outright winners and others will have a shortlist of 3 nominees. We will be in contact with these people on this week, so please keep an eye on your emails! If you are lucky enough to be announced as a winner, please wait to announce it formally until we’ve revealed you as a winner on our channels.

To formally announce the winners and to celebrate their achievements over the last year, we will be holding an award ceremony on Saturday 5th March at 6:45pm in St David’s Hotel in Cardiff (subject to COVID restrictions in Wales). Shortlisted nominee and outright winner tickets will be free. Full price tickets will cost £35 pp and will include a 3 course meal and arrival drink. Our host this year will be ITV Cymru Wales presenter and journalist, Andrea Byrne. If you would like to join us please contact maria.rees@tenniswales.org.uk.

Good luck to all of our nominees and thank you for your dedication to tennis in Wales.
