Smash Padel Cardiff to Host International Junior Padel Event in Partnership with Tennis Wales
• 4 minute read
Cardiff is set to welcome some of the world’s most promising young padel players this June as the city hosts an official FIP Promises event in partnership with Tennis Wales.
Taking place from 4–7 June 2026 at Smash Padel Cardiff, the tournament forms part of the International Padel Federation’s global junior circuit, designed to provide competitive opportunities and international pathways for emerging junior players.
The event represents another significant step forward for the growth of junior padel in Wales and the UK, with Tennis Wales supporting the event as part of its ongoing commitment to developing racket sports participation and performance opportunities across the nation.
The FIP Promises Tour attracts talented young athletes from across Europe and beyond, giving players the chance to compete in an official international environment while gaining valuable experience on court.
With entries still open (deadline 20th May), organisers are encouraging junior players and families to take advantage of the opportunity.
Alongside the competition itself, the event is expected to bring together clubs, coaches, families and spectators for a celebration of the rapidly growing junior padel community.
Simon Johnson, Chief Executive for Tennis Wales, said
“We’re delighted to be partnering on the FIP Promises Cardiff event to bring international junior competition of this level to Wales. Supporting opportunities for young people to compete, develop and enjoy padel is a big part of our strategy for the game, and together with the team at Smash Padel, we’ll deliver a great experience”.
Carson Russell, Chief Commercial Officer at Smash Padel, added:
“Hosting an official FIP Promises event in Cardiff is a hugely exciting moment for the sport and for the junior pathway here in the UK. Smash Padel are proud to be working alongside Tennis Wales to create opportunities for young players to experience international competition and to inspire the next generation of padel talent.”
The event will feature boys’ and girls’ junior categories (U12-U18) and is open to eligible players from the UK and overseas.
Organisers are also encouraging the wider sporting community to come along and support the tournament, with spectators welcome throughout the event.
