Wales Seniors International tennis and padel player Rhian Griffiths was honoured this week at the National Eisteddfod at Wrexham. She received the Blue Robes.
At the event she was honoured by the Gorsedd of Bards by being admitted on Friday the 8th of August 2025 to the Gorsedd. It is believed this is the first time an individual has been honoured by the Gorsedd for their contribution to tennis in Wales.
These honours, presented annually, recognise individuals from all parts of the country for their achievements and their commitment to Wales, the Welsh language and to their local communities.
The Gorsedd noted Rhian has made a huge contribution to the world of tennis in Wales over the past fifty years. Originally from the Wrexham area, Rhian has represented her country at every level, from the under-14 team to the over-60s team. Since 2022, she has won 11 singles titles and 12 doubles titles in ITF tournaments. In addition to representing Wales, she represented GB at the World Teams Championships held in Florida earlier this year.
Cardiff Castle LTC and Tennis Wales is delighted to extend their congratulations to Rhian, who is an active member of the club and is its welfare officer.
