Keeping Our Community Safe on Social Media

• 2 MINUTE READ

As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding players, coaches, volunteers, and fans, and on ‘Social Media Kindness Day’, we’ve introduced our new Tennis Wales ‘Social Media Code’.  This code outlines clear expectations for respectful behaviour online and provides guidance on how we can all contribute to creating a positive digital environment.

Tennis Wales is committed to ensuring that tennis and padel are sports for everyone. As the national governing body, we take pride in being part of a supportive, diverse, and inclusive community one that celebrates participation, performance, and passion for the game at every level.

Social media plays an important role in how we connect with our community. It allows us to share exciting news, celebrate the achievements of our players and clubs, and promote opportunities across Wales.

While the vast majority of online engagement is positive and encouraging, we’ve also seen an increase in posts and comments that are unacceptable. In line with our values, such content has been, and will continue to be, removed from our channels.

Tennis Wales has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse, discrimination, or harassment of any kind both on and off the court. This includes all forms of online behaviour that threaten the safety, well-being, or enjoyment of our community.

We encourage everyone involved in Welsh tennis and padel to read and follow our Social Media Code and to help us maintain a culture of respect and inclusion across all our online platforms.

Together, we can ensure that Tennis Wales’ digital spaces remain safe, supportive, and welcoming for all.
