Maia Lumsden lifts title on WTA Tour, as Scotland compete at Senior Four Nations

Maia Lumsden claimed her first title of the year as she teamed up with Makoto Ninomiya to win a WTA 125 in Saint-Malo, France.

Lumsden and Ninomiya lived up to their status as top seeds at the clay-court event, coming through the draw without dropping a set.

As the build-up continues towards Roland Garros, the Scottish-Japanese pair sealed their title by beating Oksana Kalashnikova and Angelica Moratelli 7-5, 6-2 in the final.

On the ATP Tour, Jacob Fearnley picked up his best-ever victory by ranking, coming from a set down to beat world number 20 Tomas Machac 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, en route to the third round of the Madrid Open, where he lost out to Gregor Dimitrov.

Scotland finish second at Senior Four Nations

Scotland came second overall at the Senior Four Nations Championships 2025, held at Wrexham Tennis Centre.

England, Wales and Ireland also took part in the annual three-day event, which saw the teams compete at 55+, 60+ and 65+ age groups.

Scotland won the men’s 60+ group with the team of Ronnie Terras, Alistair Alexander, Ian Campbell and Simon Richards winning all three of their ties.

There were second-place finishes for Scotland in both the men’s and women’s 55+ events, with England being crowned the overall champions on 21 points, ahead of Scotland on 15, Ireland on 13 and Wales on 11.

West of Scotland reach 14U County Cup Finals

Craiglockhart Tennis Centre in Edinburgh hosted a qualifer for the boys' 14U County Cup finals, with West of Scotland securing their place at the national event.

West enjoyed three wins over the course of the weekend, beating Leicestershire and Cambridge before securing their place with a win over East of Scotland.

The East boys also picked up two wins, beating Durham & Cleveland and Warwickshire Bears during an entertaining weekend.
